Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Also called ADHD, is a disorder where a person experiences inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and emotional dysregulation that is impairing and developmentally insufficient. These symptoms arise from Executive Dysfunction.
ADHD can be separated usually into two cases.
- Inattentive
- Primarily inattentive, with trouble focusing on items
- may be impulsive and have a hard time remembering things
- Has a hard time focusing for a long time
- Struggles to organize tasks
- Hyperactivity-Impulsivity
- Has trouble sitting down for periods of time
- Inappropriately runs around or seems to be constantly running
- Can be described as "always running on an engine"
- Has issues talking with excessive amounts
- Struggles to wait in turns
- Frequently interrupts and intrudes
- Combined
- Facing a combination of these symptoms
Hyperfocus
A part of ADHD is Hyperfocus - where someone spends a long time working on a specific task.
This often occurs to people who are working on highly interesting or instantly gratifying tasks.
